Elevate: 2025 Set the Stage for the Future of Philadelphia’s Hospitality Industry and Skål's Place Within It

Skål International Philadelphia hosted Elevate: 2025 at the Loews Philadelphia Hotel, bringing together leaders, young professionals, and students to explore what’s next for tourism and hospitality.

Michael Newmuis, 2026 Director for the City of Philadelphia, opened the evening with insights on the city’s upcoming 250th anniversary. A panel moderated by John Kroll featured Arnie Weissmann, Kathryn Ott Lovell, and Darryll Adams, who shared perspectives on global travel, Philadelphia’s cultural growth, and the evolving hospitality workforce.

Devon Johnston, the club’s Treasurer and Communications Officer, added the Young Skål perspective, sharing how joining the Philadelphia chapter after being introduced to Skål in Pittsburgh opened doors, sparked innovation, and gave him a voice.

The night concluded with Christine Duffy, President of Carnival Cruise Line, joining Skål Philadelphia as an official Honorary Member – a proud moment for the chapter and the industry it represents.
